Social Emotional Learning with Heart: Building Connections Through Picture Books at BSU Family Connections ​Webinar Series ​2022

Join Andrea Calvin at Bridgewater State University’s The College of Education and Health Sciences for a special SEL storytime. This virtual session will focus on the power of picture books to build the head and heart connection. Focusing on the works of FableVision founder and Dedham-based author/illustrator Peter H. Reynolds families will discover how to nurture social emotional learning experiences at home through story. Come for the story, stay for the conversation, and leave empowered to make the connection.

The College of Education and Health Sciences (CEHS) is excited to offer a Family Connection Speaker Series to families and community members of Southeastern Massachusetts and beyond. The topics were developed in response to current demands of the impact of COVID on children and families. Topics included for the 2022 series include diversity, equity and inclusion, the changing role of parents in education, cyberbullying, and social emotional learning. The Bridgewater State University MRISJ Civic Speaker Series hosts speakers and panel discussions to create conversation about civic engagement.

The Martin Richard Institute for Social Justice (MRISJ) invites you to join us for the latest installment of the MRISJ Civic Speaker Series on Thursday, November 18th from 4:30-5:45 pm for the virtual conversation: Using Creative Arts to Spark Civic Action for Youth.

The conversation, moderated by Dr. Sheena Manuel, Assistant Professor of Special Education, will feature a discussion with Peter and Paul Reynolds, co-founders of FableVision and developers of the learning game, Civics! An American Musical.

FableVision is a social change agency and multi-media production studio that designs and develops engaging media and interactives that inspire, teach, and move people to action.  Peter & Paul will discuss their local civic-focused work, the creation of FableVision and the impact it has made on communities and people of all ages.
