Carly & Adam's Joy of STEM: Virtual Teacher Summit July 14-16

We are once again excited to partner with Carly & Adam for the Joy of STEM Teacher Summit on July 14-16, 2022

The Joy of STEM is all about the power of PLAY in the classroom and in our lives. Through PLAY we learn, express our creativity, solve problems, and learn vital SEL and soft skills.️

Keynotes include Yolonda Tyler, Paul Reynolds, and Jed Dearbury and sessions featuring Andrea Calvin and Sara Smith. Check out the details:

Keynote - Paul A. Reynolds: Don’t Squish My Ish: Protecting the Joy of Teaching & Learning

Educational media developer, children’s book author, and university educator, Paul A. Reynolds will provide an inspiration-filled session that reminds us all of why we must protect teachers' creative, playful spirits - especially as they navigate through the hard-bitten realities of today’s world of education - and exacerbated by the lingering pandemic. Reynolds will read his brother Peter H. Reynolds' book Ish - part of the classic Creatrilogy series (The Dot, Ish, Sky Color,) and share examples of how an ish-ful approach to teaching and learning - can be healing, energizing and transformational.

Session - Sara Smith: Great Problem Solvers Play

Creativity comes from recognizing interesting problems and then finding novel ways to solve them. The world’s best problem solvers aren’t just brilliant thinkers, though, they know how to PLAY with a problem at every stage along the way. A good STEM lesson helps students practice scientific skills; a great STEM lesson sets the stage for students to play with problems, just like the greats. Let’s talk about how!

Session - Andrea Calvin: Ready, Set, Create: Transform your Classroom into a Space of Wonder Through Maker Tools and Game-based learning

From simple animation tools, to paper fabrication to game-based learning, discover how programs/classrooms across the globe are using FableVision Learning tools to transform their classroom into a space of WONDER. This session provides instruction for getting comfortable with our web-based maker programs, Animation-ish, FabMaker Studio and math games Zoombinis, and Fractions Quest including a month demo. Come create bravely!

Story-Powered STEM for a K-J Journey: From Kindergarten to Jobs; Fostering Early Growth Mindset with Paul Reynolds and Andrea Calvin at V-PETE 2021

Join Paul Reynolds , CEO , FableVision / Reynolds Center TLC  and Andrea Calvin for their ‘Story-Powered STEM for a K-J Journey: From Kindergarten to Jobs; Fostering Early Growth Mindset’ session at The Pennsylvania Education Technology Expo and Conference (V-PETE 2021) on February 10 at 10:30 a.m. (ET).

About the session: The world’s future in many ways relies on early educators’ comfort level around teaching STEM. Their efforts will help determine if we are going to have the future scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians needed to tackle the existential problems facing our planet. The urgency is compounded by research that shows that students’ STEM self-identity (or lack thereof) is forming as early as 10 to 12 years of age. To that end, we need to support our early/elementary educators in more effective ways so they can start meaningful STEM learning earlier on a student’s learning pathway. If successful, these educators will play a critical role in cultivating larger, more engaged cohorts of students interested in STEM studies and careers.

About V-PETE 2021: The Pennsylvania Education Technology Expo and Conference brings like-minded technology administrators and educators from all over Pennsylvania and surrounding areas to learn from leading experts in the education and technology fields. While this event is usually held in person, this year, PETE&C is changing into V-PETE2021!

V-PETE2021 is not your typical virtual meeting. You’ll be able to choose from 100 different educational sessions, choosing those that are most relevant to your learning environment, some in the daytime and some presented in the evening for your convenience. Not only that, but sessions will be recorded so that you can catch up with ‘On Demand’ viewing, seeing sessions you might have missed through August 2021.

Paul Reynolds to Keynote Online STEM Summit for Elementary Teachers

Join FableVision/Reynolds Center CEO Paul Reynolds for the 2020 Online STEM Summit for Teachers hosted by Carly and Adam.

As our planet faces increasingly daunting challenges, there is one human superpower that Paul Reynolds is confident will come to the rescue: creativity. Human ingenuity, persistence, and creative problem solving are needed to tackle a host of global problems - environmental, economic, and social. To that end, Paul and his team at FableVision/Reynolds Center are dedicated to inspiring creativity and bravery in the next generation of creative problem-solvers around the globe.

Paul will share how some very special teachers helped him and his brother, Peter H. Reynolds, not only develop the courage to navigate their own unique creative work, but led them to make it their life's mission to encourage others to do the same with a host of digital tools they have developed that support creativity and self-expression, as well as STEAM/maker education.

Paul will spotlight and celebrate creative educators who understand the critical mission of developing and protecting creativity. In the innovation economy, creativity is not a nice-to-have – it is absolutely essential. By wiring creativity as an overlay to the entire curriculum, we support the development of next-generation innovators – who will take the lead in helping solve a myriad of local, national and global challenges in the decades to come.

Andrea Calvin, vice president of the Reynolds Center will join Paul. She has been on the forefront of the product launch and classroom-implementation of Fab@School Maker Studio, the first digital fabrication software tool developed specifically for use in the classroom. It is an easy-to-use, web-based tool that invites students to experience STEM and STEAM learning in an engaging, personally meaningful way. She will offer a demonstration of Fab@School Maker Studio and will connect with those attending after the presentation who would like to learn more.
