On Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 5 p.m. (ET) join, FableVision’s Sara Smith, Pinna’s Anne Richards, and PBS Math Advisor Bob Krech for a FREE webinar focused on Fractions Learning for Remote and In-Class Learning. RSVP HERE.
About: For learners in grades 3 and 4, understanding and applying core fractions concepts is the launching pad for success in all the math students will encounter as they enter upper elementary grades and middle school. This edWebinar will take a fresh new look at teaching strategies in key fraction concepts, including fair shares, unit fractions, non-unit fractions, equivalent fractions, comparing and ordering fractions, and estimation with fractions.
The presenters will introduce these strategies using the newly produced Cyberchase Fractions Quest, an online game for in-class, hybrid, and remote learning, set in the world of the popular PBS KIDS Cyberchase animated series. edWebinar participants will learn how to use this “learning game” approach to boost students’ skills and knowledge in creating, interpreting, manipulating, and writing and labeling fractions, with the objective of developing a thorough understanding of fraction concepts.
The presenters will also provide a preview of the teacher resources and dashboard that accompany the game, along with multiple free Cyberchase resources for students to use. Cyberchase Fractions Quest has been developed by WNET and FableVision, two of education’s most innovative and student-focused media organizations.
This edWebinar will be of interest to kindergarten through elementary teachers and school and district leaders. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.
